The best time to visit

June–September is the warmest time of the year, and this is also peak season.  Which means higher hotel rates and more crowds.  Opting for May or October, is maybe a good choice.  You’ll still have nice weather, but with a little less of the crowds.  However if you love the touristy summer vacation vibe, just make sure you book well in advance.

May month is also the time when Saint-Malo’s international book and film festival are held.

Shops and Cobble Stones

During WWII the city was practically destroyed and most of Saint-Malo Old Town had to be rebuild.  But now you’ll find typical French type shops within the walls of the city.  Cobble stone streets leading to beautiful little open air squares, like Chateaubriand Square, where you’ll find restaurants and cafes, to stop for a drink or something to eat.
