What You’ll Find in This Policy

Privacy Policy

Who we are

Travel and Home publishes travel and home-related content at https://travelandhome.com and offers premade digital guides.

Travel and Home is a privately operated digital magazine. Arina Janse Van Rensburg, trading as Travel and Home, is the operator and contact responsible for the personal information Travel and Home handles.

Business address: 106 Abraham Cilliers Street, Kosmos, Hartbeespoort, 0216, South Africa. We provide customer support online and do not operate a public storefront. Please email [email protected] to arrange physical correspondence or deliveries in advance. This request does not restrict any legally valid method of serving documents.

For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].

This policy describes our handling of personal information. External booking providers, social networks, affiliate partners, and checkout providers also explain their own practices in their privacy policies.

Information we collect and why

Messages and inquiries. When you contact us, we receive the details you provide, such as your name, email address, and message. We use them to answer you, resolve questions, and keep a record of the conversation. We rely on our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries, or on steps needed to enter into or carry out a contract when your message concerns a purchase.

Website comments. When you leave a comment, we collect the information you enter in the comment form, including your name, email address, and comment. Arina personally reviews and approves comments before they appear on the website. Once approved, your chosen display name and comment appear publicly. Your email address does not appear publicly. WordPress also collects your IP address and browser information to help identify spam. If Gravatar is active, it may receive a hash of your email address to check for a profile image. See https://automattic.com/privacy/. We rely on our legitimate interest in managing discussion and protecting the website.

Website operation and security. Our hosting and security providers process technical information such as IP addresses, browser details, request times, and security events. We use this information to deliver pages, investigate errors, prevent abuse, and protect the website. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a reliable, secure service.

Cookies and website analytics

Cookies are small files that websites store on your device. Similar technologies may store preferences, help keep a website secure, measure website use, or attribute a purchase to an affiliate link.

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functions and, where enabled, analytics or affiliate attribution. Nonessential technologies require consent where applicable. Google Analytics, when enabled with the required consent, helps us understand how people use our pages through information such as page views, referral sources, device details, and approximate location. Read Google’s privacy information at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Essential technologies may be necessary to deliver the page or a feature you request. Optional analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies require consent where applicable. Simply browsing the website does not count as consent.

Use the “Cookie settings” button to review or change your choices for analytics and advertising or affiliate tracking. We store your selection in a cookie called tah_consent for up to 182 days. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect some website features. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing.

Digital purchases and support

For products sold through Lemon Squeezy, checkout takes place through Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. It handles payment processing and relevant transaction, tax, and fraud checks under its own policies. We receive order information needed to support your purchase, which may include your name, email address, product, order reference, payment status, and billing or tax details made available in its seller tools. We do not receive your full card number or card security code through that checkout.

We use purchase information to provide product support, investigate access problems, handle refund requests, maintain necessary business records, and resolve disputes. Depending on the purpose, we rely on contract performance, legal obligations, or our legitimate interest in managing customer support and defending legal claims. Read Lemon Squeezy’s privacy policy at https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

Providing an email address and required checkout information is necessary to complete a purchase and deliver access. If you do not provide required information, the order may not proceed. Do not email us payment-card details or identity documents unless a verified, secure process specifically requires them.

Affiliate links and external content

When you follow an affiliate or booking link, the destination provider may receive technical or referral information and use cookies to attribute a booking or purchase. Embedded videos and social content may also communicate with their providers when loaded. Review the destination’s privacy policy before submitting information there. We must obtain consent for optional tracking on our own website where the law requires it.

We do not automatically receive the full personal details of everyone who books through an affiliate link. The information available to us depends on that partner’s reporting tools.

Who receives information

We use outside services to keep the website running, respond to messages, understand website use, and deliver digital purchases. These providers may handle personal information as part of those tasks. This does not mean we give every provider all the information we hold.

Based on our current website setup, these services include Webful Creations for hosting and technical support, Cloudflare for website delivery and security, Google Analytics for website-use measurement, GTranslate for language translation, and our email provider for messages and support. For purchases through Lemon Squeezy, it receives the details you submit at checkout.

Affiliate networks and booking providers handle information when you follow their links or use their services. They explain their own practices in their privacy policies. We may also disclose information to professional advisers or authorities where necessary for legal obligations or claims.

We do not sell customer contact lists or pass inquiry details to unrelated businesses for their own marketing. Buying a guide or sending an inquiry does not automatically subscribe you to marketing emails.

International processing

Some of our service providers operate internationally and may process information outside South Africa or the European Economic Area. This can include Google, Cloudflare, and Lemon Squeezy. Their privacy notices describe their processing locations and transfer arrangements.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for transfers that we arrange, we must establish an appropriate transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses. Contact [email protected] if you need information about a particular provider or transfer.

Our hosting provider, Webful Creations, operates its hosting service under the WebfulHost brand. It stores our website files, WordPress database, and hosting backups in the AWS US East (Northern Virginia) region in the United States. Images that we moved to Cloudflare use its separate storage and delivery services.

How long we keep information

We retain information for the purpose for which we collected it, then delete or anonymize it unless a legal obligation or unresolved claim requires longer retention.

Messages and support correspondence: Our routine retention period is up to two years after the last meaningful exchange. We keep information longer only when an unresolved issue, legal obligation, or claim requires it.

Orders and business records we hold: We retain records needed for tax, accounting, refunds, and disputes for the period required by the law that applies to the operator. We then delete or anonymize them when we no longer have a legal or business reason to keep them.

Comments: We generally retain approved comments without a fixed expiry date to preserve the discussion beneath our articles. However, if storage limits require a cleanup, we may delete older comments and retain only those from the preceding 12 months. You can contact [email protected] to request removal of your personal information.

Security logs and backups: Our hosting and security providers retain these under their service settings and backup schedules. Older backups may contain information until the scheduled backup cycle replaces them. We restrict their use to recovery, security, and necessary investigations.

Analytics and cookies: Retention depends on the active service settings and cookie expiry dates. We must align these settings with the purposes described here and remove information when it is no longer necessary.

Lemon Squeezy and other independent providers set their own retention periods under their policies.

Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may ask to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive a portable copy of your personal information. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where we rely on it. These rights have legal limits; for example, we may need to keep records required by law.

Email [email protected] to make a request. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm your identity. Where the GDPR applies, we normally respond within one month and explain any permitted extension.

You may complain to your local data-protection authority. If Hungary is the relevant jurisdiction, you can contact the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH): https://www.naih.hu.

Travel and Home does not make solely automated decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Checkout providers may conduct their own fraud checks under their policies.

Keeping information secure

We use reasonable access controls and technical safeguards to protect the information we handle. However, no website, email system, or storage service can guarantee complete security.

Children

Our paid guides and checkout are intended for adults. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can review and address it.

Digital Product Terms

What we sell

Travel and Home offers premade downloadable products. Each product page explains its format, contents, price, and any special requirements.

Our Spanish pocket guide is a 55-page PDF with seven daily lessons, practical situations for a trip to Spain, English meanings, written pronunciation help, and quick-reference phrases. It is a self-guided resource. The purchase does not include live teaching, consultations, customized services, a printed book, audio recordings, or a subscription.

The title “Speak Spanish in 7 Days” describes the seven-day practice structure. It does not promise fluency in seven days or a particular learning result.

Price and checkout

Check the product page and checkout for the current price and applicable taxes. The final checkout amount appears before you confirm payment. Any currency-conversion charges from your bank or payment provider fall outside our control.

For purchases through Lemon Squeezy, Lemon Squeezy acts as merchant of record. Its buyer terms also apply to the transaction. These terms describe Travel and Home’s product, permissions, and support responsibilities; they do not replace the merchant’s checkout terms or mandatory consumer rights.

Delivery and compatibility

After successful payment, Lemon Squeezy provides access through the order confirmation and receipt email. Use a valid email address and check your spam folder if the receipt does not arrive.

You need an internet connection to purchase and download the PDF, enough storage, and a device or application that opens PDF files. Once you save the file to your device, you can read its content offline. External website links still require internet access. PDF applications may display navigation features differently.

If you cannot access your file, contact [email protected] with your order reference. Keep a personal backup; we do not promise permanent hosting or lifetime access through an external provider.

Your personal-use permission

Your purchase grants you a nonexclusive, nontransferable license for your own personal, noncommercial use. You may save copies on your own devices and print a copy for personal use.

You may not share the PDF or download access with others, upload it publicly, resell it, distribute it, or use it in a paid course or commercial product without written permission. Statutory exceptions to copyright remain unaffected.

Copyright remains with Travel and Home or the relevant rights holders. Buying a guide does not transfer ownership of its content or branding.

Using the guide

Our guides offer general educational and travel information. Check current information with the relevant provider or authority before relying on details that may change. Written pronunciation is an aid, rather than a substitute for listening practice.

Translations and phrases cannot replace qualified medical, legal, or emergency assistance. For urgent situations, contact the appropriate local service.

Updates and your rights

The product page identifies the edition or contents available at purchase. We do not promise additional editions or optional future content unless the offer specifically includes them. This does not limit corrections, updates, or remedies that applicable consumer law requires.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability or rights that the law does not allow us to exclude. Later changes to these terms do not retrospectively remove rights attached to an existing purchase.

Refund Policy

This refund policy applies to Travel and Home digital products sold through Lemon Squeezy. For purchases or bookings made with another business through an affiliate link, contact that provider directly. Its cancellation and refund terms apply; Travel and Home does not issue those refunds.

Help with your download

If your file is missing, damaged, or will not open, email [email protected] with your order reference and a brief description of the problem. We will help you access a working copy.

If the product is defective or materially different from its description, you retain the remedies available under applicable consumer law. These may include correction, replacement, a price reduction, or a refund, depending on the circumstances.

Change-of-mind requests

Because a downloaded PDF cannot be returned, we do not offer voluntary change-of-mind refunds once you have downloaded the guide. Please read the product description and sample pages before purchasing. This does not limit any statutory cancellation rights or remedies for faulty, inaccessible, or misdescribed digital content.

Statutory cancellation rights

Where EU or EEA withdrawal rights apply, consumers generally have 14 days from the contract date to cancel an online digital-content purchase. An exception may apply once digital delivery begins, but only when the required prior express consent, acknowledgment of losing the withdrawal right, and confirmation requirements have been met. A download alone does not automatically remove those rights.

To exercise an applicable cancellation right, send a clear statement to [email protected] or use the merchant’s receipt support route before the deadline. Include your name, purchase date, product, and order reference so we can locate the order. You may use the following wording, but you do not have to:

I give notice that I withdraw from my purchase of [product], ordered on [date]. My name is [name], my address is [address], and my order reference is [reference]. Date: [date].

How refunds work

Lemon Squeezy processes refunds for transactions it handles. Approved refunds return through the original payment method where possible. Your bank or payment provider determines when the credit appears. Where a statutory deadline applies, it takes precedence.

Lemon Squeezy may also issue refunds under its own policies. Nothing here limits your statutory rights or a more favorable promise shown when you purchased.

If a refund ends your license, stop using and delete the guide and personal copies, except where law requires or permits otherwise.

Editorial & Affiliate Disclosure

Our editorial approach

Travel and Home shares travel ideas, practical information, recipes, and home inspiration. Our content reflects our editorial judgment. Mentioning a destination, business, or product does not imply its endorsement of Travel and Home.

We aim for accuracy, but opening hours, prices, transport arrangements, availability, and entry requirements can change. Check time-sensitive details with the relevant provider or official source before booking or setting out.

Affiliate links and advertising

Some links are affiliate links. If you make a qualifying purchase or booking through them, we may earn a commission. Any charge to you follows the provider’s displayed offer and terms. We identify paid collaborations or sponsored content where applicable.

Travel and Home participates in affiliate programs, including Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Our recommendations do not cover every available offer. Compare the options that matter to you and review the provider’s booking, cancellation, and privacy terms. When you buy or book through an affiliate link, you enter into the transaction with the provider or merchant identified at checkout. That business handles payment, delivery, cancellations, and refunds under its own terms. Travel and Home does not process those payments or issue refunds for those third-party transactions. Our digital-guide refund policy does not apply to them. This does not exclude any responsibility that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

Copyright, images, and corrections

Travel and Home’s original writing, designs, and photographs belong to their relevant rights holders. Other media may appear under licenses or permission. Please ask before reusing material; a credit or link alone does not replace permission.

If you believe content infringes your rights, or you spot an error, email [email protected] with the page URL and supporting details so we can investigate.
