Summertime is the best time to visit Szeged!
April 30 to May 4, 2025: It’s a vibrant celebration featuring a variety of activities, including live music, cultural performances, food stalls, and family-friendly entertainment. It’s held in the Újszegedi Liget, a beautiful park in Szeged, and attracts both locals and visitors.
The Majális festival is a great opportunity to experience Hungarian culture, enjoy delicious local cuisine, and participate in fun activities for all ages. Whether you’re interested in traditional music and dance, or simply want to relax and enjoy the festive atmosphere, the Majális festival has something for everyone.
May 15–25: Széchenyi Square comes alive with the event’s main festivities. But that’s just the start! Over at Clause Square, the Gastro Court will tempt you with mouthwatering flavors, while Dugonics Square transforms into Treasure Square, filled with delightful surprises.
Don’t miss the Cathedral Square Cavalcade at Dome Square from May 23–25, offering even more charm. And to top it all off, the Bridge Fair takes over the Downtown Bridge and Bridge Street on May 24–25, making it the perfect way to soak in the festival vibes. There’s so much to see, taste, and enjoy—it’s truly a celebration you won’t forget!
August 19–20: This vibrant festival honors the founding of the Hungarian state with a mix of culture, entertainment, and unforgettable experiences.
Concerts: Head to Széchenyi Square for live music by talented local and national artists. From upbeat tunes to soulful melodies, there’s a little something for everyone.
Cultural Performances: Immerse yourself in Hungarian traditions with folk dances, brass band shows, and other cultural gems that bring history to life.

It’s all about celebrating wine, culture, and gastronomy in the picturesque setting of Dóm Square and Aradi vértanúk Square.
With over 100 winemakers from Hungary and nearby countries, you can sample a variety of reds, whites, rosés, and sparkling wines. Food stalls serve up Hungarian classics like chimney cakes, strudel, lángos, and artisanal treats. Two stages host live music and cultural performances, adding energy to the event. A craft market offers handmade goods, from ceramics to truffle delicacies.
The festival begins with a harvest parade and operates on a cashless Festipay system for easy transactions. Whether you’re into wine or simply want to enjoy the lively atmosphere, Bor tér is a fantastic experience.
October 4-5
It’s a unique and vibrant event celebrating the local culture and traditions. This festival features a variety of activities, including live music performances, traditional dances, and cultural showcases. Visitors can enjoy delicious Hungarian cuisine from food stalls, explore craft markets, and participate in family-friendly activities.
October 25–26
The “perfect weekend” festival originated as a community event aimed at celebrating the autumn season and bringing people together for creative and fun activities. The festival has grown over the years to include events such as pumpkin carving, interactive workshops, stage performances, and a handicraft market.
November 28 to December 24
The “Christmas Weeks” festival transforms into a sparkling winter wonderland. With festive activities and cozy attractions spread across Dóm Square, Dugonics Square, and Klauzál Square, this Szeged festival is pure magic!
December 27 – January 01, 2026
The New Year’s Eve Fair will be held at Széchenyi Square, offering a variety of activities and attractions to celebrate the arrival of the new year. The highlight of this Szeged festival is a spectacular fireworks show that will light up the sky at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
