A major part of our memories from travels past is the accommodation. Our travel tip would be to book the best you can afford. Especially if you’re going to spend some time in the hotel or apartment. So let’s see where to book the perfect stay in beautiful Porto.
When you’re on holiday in Porto, Portugal, the best areas to stay in still depend on your preferences and what you’re looking to experience. Here are some areas tailored to different types of travelers and some recommendations on where to stay:
Historic Center (Ribeira): If you want to be in the heart of Porto’s historic charm, Ribeira is perfect. It’s a picturesque area along the Douro River with colorful buildings, narrow streets, and plenty of restaurants and cafes. It’s ideal for those who want a romantic and scenic atmosphere. You might just find the perfect place to stay…
Located within Ribeira Square next to the Douro River, PortoSense offers modern apartments with a washing machine if you need one. Sensibility and a stunning view combined. Book your apartment stay…
Situated across the river from Porto, this area offers stunning views of the city. It’s famous for its port wine cellars and offers a more relaxed atmosphere. Great for wine enthusiasts and those looking for a quieter stay. There are quite a few fabulous options on where to book your accommodation…
Or how about this stunning flat with river views?
The apartment was exquisitely adorned, boasting a perfect location with a bus stop right outside, providing easy access to the city center. Additionally, it offered captivating views overlooking the river. Downstairs, the restaurants served delectable cuisine, including a delightful breakfast.
The best thing about the hotel’s location is its proximity to some amazing sights. The Eurostars Hotel is just a short 5-minute walk away from the famous Ponte Luis I metal bridge, which spans the Douro River. One of my absolute favorite things to do during my stay was heading up to the rooftop of the hotel. From there, I had the most incredible views of the river. It became my go-to spot for sipping on a refreshing Portonic cocktail while watching the sunset.
But the magic didn’t end there. When night fell, the scene was truly mesmerizing. Across the Douro River in Vila Nova de Gaia, the Monastery of Serra de Pilar was beautifully illuminated against the dark night sky. It was a sight to behold! This monastery is not just any building; it’s a significant architectural landmark in Gaia and is even part of the area recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site since December 1996.
Travel Tip(s)
My tip for anyone planning to stay at this hotel is to make sure you book a Riverview room. Trust me; it’s worth it! You’ll get to soak in all these breathtaking views and make the most out of your stay.
Miragaia is a quieter neighborhood close to the city center. It’s a good option if you want a peaceful stay while still being within walking distance of Porto’s attractions.
Top Flat is set in Miragaia, one of Porto’s historical neighborhoods. This property overlooks the Douro River and is a 2-minute walk from the Alfândega do Porto. It is a 3-minute drive from the Vila Nova de Gaia riverside area.
