Amanzimtoti Beach with its warm Indian Ocean water makes for the ideal year-round holiday destination in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The town, situated in the Durban Municipality, is a popular tourist destination and it is particularly popular with surfers.
Fun beach activities like swimming, snorkeling, beach volleyball, diving, surfing, and lazy days spend on the beach, are what a holiday in Amanzimtoti is all about.
Amanzimtoti is about 21 min (25,7 km) away from Durban (via the N2). Therefore you have the bigger Durban area to explore. We really do suggest renting a car and setting your GPS to highways when traveling. This will give you the option to explore without any worries and is a far better option than any public transport as you can then safely explore all the places of interest.
Anytime of the year is actually good. December and January are the very busy touristy months with hot weather and busy beaches. From May to July / August the popular annual ‘Sardine Run’ takes place. This is the time of year when billions of Sardines literally swims out right on the beach.
The stretches of long soft white sandy beaches are free kids entertainment and the perfect place to take that stroll at sunset.
There are more than enough restaurants and bars to visit after a day in the sun or to start your day with a nice brunch.
