It is simply impossible to name everything we love about Italy because we are totally in love with this country.  However, we can honestly say that it is one of our favorite travel destinations and one we will recommend without a doubt.  A travel bucket list destination, a gap year destination, a fairy tale destination, and that once-in-a-lifetime must-visit place.

Top reasons why you should visit Italy Travel and Home

Italy will steal your heart in a dozen quiet ways—the golden light over rolling hills, the scent of fresh basil and baked bread drifting from a street corner, the soft hum of a piazza as locals sip espresso and chat, the shimmer of sunlight on Venetian canals, and the warm laughter that fills a family-run trattoria. Every cobblestone street, every vineyard, every cliffside village feels like it was made to be savored slowly. Italy doesn’t just invite you to visit—it lingers in your heart and mind long after you’ve left.”  Elmari

“Italian streets are beautiful because of the many cobblestone streets that wind through vibrant towns, the balconies that overflow with flowers, and every corner reveals cafes, markets, or fountains alive with daily life. The cities and villages in Italy all have fabulous restaurants and cafes.  Picture perfect streets, on lazy summer days with fabulous food, that is what some of the best holidays are made of.

Visiting places like Naples, Rome and Venice, you simply must try home made traditional Italian pasta.  Going to Tuscany and Chianti the local wine lists will definitely impress.  We know you’ll find the fresh seafood, fabulous lemons and delicious pesto of the Cinque Terre and the Liguria region simply irresistible.

Stop and buy Limoncello in Positano or fresh tomatoes in Puglia.  Buy handmade, hand painted maiolica (Italian ceramics) in the hillside town of Deruta, in Umbria.  In Murano, Venice (one of the lagoon islands) you must stop and appreciate the artisans performing the delicate technique of shaping glass with fire using a blowtorch. Creating the much sought after Murano glass items.

Oh and don’t forget the Gelaterias (the shops selling Italian or Italian-style ice cream).  Gelato in Italy is a must.

There are fabulous coffee shops in Italy you simply must visit.

Visitors love the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Colosseum.  Places like the Venice canals, Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius are some of the most famous stops for tourists.  But everywhere in Italy you will find beautiful architecture.  Some of our favorite places to marvel in this spectacular splendor are the chapels in Italy:  Cappella Paolina in Rome, Brancacci Chapel in Florence, Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral) and the famous St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City.

The Pantheon, the Uffizi Gallery and Vasari Corridor in Florence, the Accademia Galleria (also in Florence), Castel Sant’Angelo National Museum, La Venaria Reale in Turin and the Royal Palace Of Caserta, are some of the most visited places in Italy.
