  • By Car: Renting a car and driving is a convenient way to reach the Dolomites from Venice. The journey takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on your destination within the Dolomites.  You can travel via the A27 – and maybe consider staying in Belluno to explore from there.
  • By Train and Bus: You can take a train from Venice to a nearby town like Belluno, which serves as a gateway to the Dolomites. From Belluno, you can then take a bus or arrange for local transportation to reach specific areas in the Dolomites.
  • Organized Tours: There are also organized day trips and tours that depart from Venice and take you to the Dolomites. These tours typically include transportation, guided excursions, and the opportunity to explore key attractions.
  • Private Transfers: Some companies offer private transfers from Venice directly to popular destinations in the Dolomites. This option provides flexibility and comfort during your journey.

Getting around

You can make use of public transport, but we would recommend renting a car as this allows you to see all the “hidden gems” in the area which is not always on the public transport routes.

When is the best time to visit the Dolomites

  • Summer (June to August) is beautiful and green and the mountains are full of life.  This is our favorite time, but if you love snow, obviously you would want to experience a winter wonderland.
  • Winter (December to March). An excellent time to enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing adventures.
  • Autumn (September and October) is still beautiful in the Dolomites with light snow possibility on the higher spots.
