There are a lot of recipes for “Spezzatino di Maiale con Patate” out there. This one is tried and tested and a favorite with the Travel and Home team.Â
n my opinion, you are more than welcome to add your own flair to the recipe. After all, that is what makes a “family recipe“. (I love to add a little bit more Paprika, but this is for you to decide.) Â

STEP 1:
Make a basic Italian Soffritto (The best flavor base for any sauce, soup, and/or stew).
STEP 2: STEWING
In Northern Italy, it is served with polenta or mashed potatoes.
I believe that when served with a nice glass of Italian wine, this is the perfect meal for a cold winter’s day.
The Secret
Spezzatino is a traditional Italian recipe handed down from family to family. I think it is very easy to make, especially for the beginner cook. Furthermore, the ingredients are stuff that you usually have on hand in the kitchen.
It should be noted that the important part of the recipe is to take your time and let it cook as per the time allocated in the recipe. Do not hurry. This will ensure soft and tender meat with a great gravy taste.
