Music from Austria has a way of lifting your spirits, from lively party beats to timeless alpine melodies.
Tirol, Zillertal, Mayrhofen – these regions are alive with music that makes you want to move. From classic local tunes to modern hits, Austrian music lifts your spirits and gets everyone dancing. The people here truly live with music, so whenever you visit, include a festival or live performance in your plans and feel the energy for yourself. Bring a little of Austria home with its unforgettable beats and melodies.
For first-time visitors, the best way to experience Austria’s music is to step into it. Small local festivals, cozy taverns with live bands, or even street performances in the towns of Tirol and Zillertal give a true sense of how deeply music is woven into daily life. Even if you’ve never danced before, the energy is infectious – you’ll find yourself tapping your feet, clapping along, and maybe even joining in. It’s a joyful, unforgettable way to connect with the country beyond its stunning landscapes.
Over the years, some of the most beautiful songs have been written in and about Austria, a country as inspiring as it is stunning.
The video and music of Geri der Klostertaler – La via Alpina, give you a taste of what to expect when visiting this beautiful country. Magical in Winter and breathtakingly beautiful in Summer.
If you want to experience music from Austria up close, a visit to Zellberg Stüberl is a must. Perched in the mountains of Zillertal, this cozy alpine inn often fills with live traditional tunes played by the hosts themselves. The melodies of accordion, guitar, and violin drift across the terrace, letting you feel the heart of Tirol’s musical culture while enjoying breathtaking valley views. It’s the kind of place where Austrian music isn’t just heard — it’s lived.
The Zellberg Stüberl – One of the most beautiful places in the world, with awesome views and certainly one of the most popular destinations right on the Zillertaler Höhenstraße, belongs to two of my favorite groups:
“Gerhard, boss of the Zellberg Buam , and his son Georg (Die Fetzig’n aus dem Zillertal) run the Zellberg Stüberl together. An alpine inn on the Zillertaler Höhenstraße at 1,840 m above sea level.”
You can often experience house music at lunchtime (approx. From 12:00 to 14:00) with Gerhard and his children in a beautiful setting in the middle of the Zillertal Alps! What more can you ask for…
Oh and there is also the most beautiful little chapel with spectacular views on the premises. You need to go…

The folk‑music group Die Mayrhofner was founded in the Zillertal in 1997 and evolved out of earlier ensembles. It is led by Erwin Aschenwald, a singer and violinist from Mayrhofen, and today includes several musicians alongside him — often his sons and long‑time bandmates — playing accordion, guitar, and more in their distinctive style of Alpine folk music. Their songs like Der Sonntagsjodler have become well‑known among fans of Austrian music and often have listeners humming or even yodeling along.
Johann Ernst “Hansi” Hinterseer is an Austrian singer, actor, entertainer and former alpine skier and to some of the ladies a real heart-throb. His music keeps a wide variety of audience happy, from those loving the romantic music tunes to rave music and Après Ski party remixes.

DJ Ötzi, born in St. Johann in Tirol, is one of Austria’s most famous party and après-ski performers. His upbeat hits, including Ein Stern (…der deinen Namen trägt), fill alpine festivals, ski resorts, and inns with energy, getting everyone singing and dancing along. While his music leans toward pop and schlager, it captures the lively, festive spirit of Tirol and Zillertal. Experiencing his songs in the mountains, especially during a winter celebration or festival, is a joyful way to feel the local party culture firsthand.
And that’s all we can share for now. We hope you’ve enjoyed this music compilation as much as we do. When you’re near Zillertal or Tirol, take the time to experience the music in person — at a cozy alpine inn, a lively festival, or a local concert. It’s a joyful way to feel the heart of the region and let the rhythms of the Alps stay with you long after your visit.
Geri der Klostertaler is also from Tyrol, Austria. He is a member of the Klostertaler, a famous Tyrolean folk music group known for yodeling, alpine tunes, and lively performances at festivals and inns throughout the Alps.
