It’s located on the Door Peninsula’s western shore, right along Green Bay’s picturesque waters. If you’re heading up north it’s a scenic drive from major cities like Milwaukee (about 3 hours) or Green Bay (about 1.5 hours), and it’s a beautiful drive with plenty of scenic views along the way.
This lively village is the largest in the area and is packed with charm. Nestled on a beautiful bay, Sister Bay is known for and offers stunning waterfront views, a fantastic food scene, and a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere. From boating and parks to a variety of great restaurants and cafes, there’s something for everyone. It’s the perfect destination for a memorable getaway.
 
															When you’re in Sister Bay, you absolutely have to try the famous Swedish pancakes at Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant & Butik. They’re a local favorite and a must-try dish that perfectly captures the unique culinary charm of the village. Plus, dining at Al Johnson’s is an experience in itself, with their iconic goats grazing on the roof adding to the fun atmosphere. Home Base for Exploring: Sister Bay’s central location makes it a great starting point to explore the rest of Door County. Many state parks and other attractions are within easy driving distance.
The best time to visit Sister Bay is during the summer and fall months. From June to August, you’ll experience warm weather perfect for outdoor activities like boating, swimming, and exploring the village. Plus, this is when Sister Bay comes alive with vibrant events and festivals, offering a true taste of local culture and community spirit.
If you prefer fewer crowds and cooler temperatures, consider visiting in the fall, particularly during September and October. The autumn foliage in Door County is absolutely stunning, and you can enjoy scenic drives, apple picking, and other seasonal activities. Just keep in mind that some businesses may have reduced hours or close for the season after October.
Overall, whether you choose to visit in the summer for the bustling atmosphere or in the fall for the beautiful colors, Sister Bay promises a delightful experience whenever you decide to go!
