Have you ever dreamed of wandering the streets of London with no agenda, no deadlines, just you and the city? Well, buckle up because we’re about to take you on a journey through the perfect day spent alone in this bustling metropolis. London may be known for its crowds and commotion, but trust us, there’s a whole world of serenity waiting to be discovered. Yes, there is the “normal sightseeing”, like Big Ben, the London Eye, etc… but how about spending 24 hours doing the following:
Start your day with unparalleled views over London from the 40th floor of 110 Bishopsgate in London. Duck & Waffle offers breathtaking views over the city from sunrise to sunset and our personal favorite is the Caramelized Banana waffle with homemade hazelnut chocolate spread, vanilla ice cream, and a peanut crunch.
Or, as we often recommend, spend some special me-time at the hotel where you’re booked and enjoy what they have on offer. After all, you’re paying for the best (you can afford…) You might as well indulge a little bit in style because you deserve it.
Are you ready to book accommodation? In London you have more than 12,000 options on where to stay, so make it a special one with style…
As the sun starts to peek through the clouds. You grab a coffee and head to one of London’s stunning parks, like Hyde Park or Regent’s Park. With each step, you’ll feel the stress of everyday life melting away. Surrounded by lush greenery and the sound of birds chirping, you can’t help but feel at peace.
Planted with more than 3,000 trees, you’ll find Hyde Park as a serene oasis in the heart of London, England. This iconic park spans over 350 acres, offering a vast expanse of greenery and recreational opportunities. Established in 1637, it holds a rich history as one of the Royal Parks of London. You can take leisurely strolls, go boating on the Serpentine Lake, or picnic amongst the trees.
You can even enjoy your morning coffee here, as there are a few very nice cafes you can explore. Dating back to the early 19th century, this iconic park spans over 410 acres, making it one of the largest green spaces in the city.
Regent’s Park is home to the stunning Queen Mary’s Gardens, renowned for its beautiful rose garden containing over 12,000 roses of 400 varieties.
A place where you can escape the hustle and bustle of city life for just a while.
The British Museum is the largest in London. It covers a vast area of approximately 92,000 square meters (or 990,000 square feet) and houses an extensive collection of artifacts and artworks from around the world. With over 8 million objects in its permanent collection, the British Museum is not only the largest museum in London but also one of the most significant and comprehensive museums globally. Its expansive galleries showcase diverse cultures and civilizations, ranging from ancient Egypt and Greece to Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
If you love all things vintage like books and clothing, this is the place to shop. They sell anything from vintage books and antiques to some amazing street food. Wondering along Portobello Market is fun and you will have all the time in the world to snoop in every little corner when you are alone in London. Saturdays are the best time to visit.
Or get lost in a super fancy shopping spree at a place like Fortnum and Mason. This store is absolutely a must-visit, but you might consider going as early as being the first person to walk through the door (at 10 am during the week), as it can get very busy. Fortnum and Mason is an 18th-century department store known for its gourmet groceries including tea and posh preserves.

We must admit – this one is our favorite! (If you can’t go in person, visit them online. Their packaging is out of this world.)
Or visit the ever-popular Harrods London. The store’s grand architecture, stunning displays, and elegant interiors create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that is both captivating and unforgettable. Walking through the halls of Harrods feels like stepping into a world of luxury and indulgence.
Address: 87-135 Brompton Rd, London SW1X 7XL, United Kingdom
Harrods is a must-see when in London, but if you cannot really ‘shop’ at Harrods, at least do a walk-through. You might just find something you ‘just have to have’ as a souvenir. The total experience and being able to say you ‘shopped at Harrods’ is award enough; you don’t have to be a millionaire as most people think.
Imagine someone asking: “So what have you been up to all on your own in London?” and you can answer: “Well, I took the afternoon and shopped at Harrods.” (Now doesn’t that sound impressive?)
In my opinion, when you’re in London, especially during Christmas time, you just have to “stop” at Harrods for the most amazing displays. You will find a lot of cute stocking fillers totally within budget. Or you can splurge on extravagant gifts and the most amazing Christmas decorations. It’s all up to you.
🎒 Travel Tip(s):
Dress code: While there isn’t a strict dress code, both stores are upscale establishments, so it’s advisable to dress neatly and avoid overly casual attire.
Budget: Be aware that Fortnum and Mason and Harrods are known for their luxury goods, so prices may be higher compared to average stores. Set a budget beforehand to avoid overspending.
Crowds: As mentioned before, these stores can get quite busy, especially during peak tourist seasons. Be prepared for crowds and consider visiting during off-peak hours for a more relaxed shopping experience.
