I am not quite sure why this recipe is called the “Irish Cream Liqueur”, as you can use any Whisky or Brandy that you like. However, it is easy to make and can be a great gift for someone on Father’s Day or at Christmas. Or impress your friends at your next home celebration by casually mentioning you made the liqueur yourself… 🙂
Difficulty: Easy for beginners
“Baileys Irish Cream is an Irish cream liqueur; an alcoholic drink flavored with cream, cocoa, and Irish whiskey. It is made by Diageo at Nangor Road, in Dublin, Ireland, and in Mallusk, Northern Ireland. Owned by Gilbeys of Ireland, the trademark is currently owned by Diageo.” – Wikipedia
Baileys is the original and certainly the iconic and most popular Irish Liqueur, by which all other Irish cream liqueurs are judged. It might also be the most popular for travelers, as it is often the only name to easy enough to pronounce when visiting Ireland. 🙂
Irish cream liqueur is served straight, on the rocks, or in mixed drinks. It is also often used in combination with Kahlúa in an Irish coffee. Irish cream is also used to flavor desserts.
