At least once in your lifetime, you should visit one of the most beautiful places on earth…Hamilton Pool is one of them.
Hamilton Pool Preserve is located in Travis County, Texas, USA, deep in the Texas Hill Country.

~13 miles north of downtown Dripping Springs, Texas.
Hamilton Pool is a natural canyon pool surrounded by a massive limestone grotto and a 50-foot waterfall.
The grotto was formed thousands of years ago when the dome of an underground river collapsed due to erosion.
Park Governance: It operates as a protected natural reserve managed by Travis County Parks and forms part of the Balcones Canyonlands Conservation Plan.
The pool is situated on about 232 acres of nature park. You’ll need a minimum of at least 1 Hour to explore. We would suggest more.
Trail Safety / Closures: The quarter-mile trail down to the pool is steep, rugged, and requires sturdy shoes. The trail section going directly underneath the overhanging cliff waterfall has experienced frequent closures due to falling rock risks.
No Drinking Water: There is no running water or concessions, so visitors must bring their own drinking water.
No Pets Allowed: Pets are strictly prohibited anywhere in the preserve (including in parked vehicles).
Hamilton Pool Preserve is a recreational destination, with unparalleled natural beauty.
But if you don’t have a reservation, don’t even try to drive all the way. You need to make a reservation well in advance (we’re talking a month or two). So you have to plan.
Also it is not guaranteed that when you get there you would be able to swim in the pool, but it does make for spectacular photo opportunities and it still is well worth a visit.

There is a Two-Part Payment System: You MUST pay a reservation fee online plus a per-person day-use fee (free for children under 12) upon arrival.
Cash Only at Gate: Travis County Parks only accepts cash at the entrance booth (no credit or debit cards).
Time Slots: Reservations are strictly enforced in fixed blocks: Morning (9:00 AM – 12:30 PM) and Afternoon (2:00 PM – 5:30 PM).
ID & Vehicle Limits: 1 vehicle max per reservation (up to 8 people). The named reservation holder must present photo ID.

Although you can bring your food and have a picnic, the following are strictly prohibited:
DID YOU KNOW: “Hamilton Pool is known as a collapsed grotto.
The overlying limestone is more resistant to erosion than the underlying rock.
During flood events the lower rock gets eroded more than the rock above. Eventually this causes a large overhang that is immediately obvious to visitors at the pool.
As the erosion process continues, the overhang will eventually collapse and the process will begin again, with the waterfall moving upstream a little with each collapse.
This erosional process has been occurring for roughly 100,000 years, with the waterfall moving up the canyon roughly three-quarters of a mile in that time.”
