Yes, it is made from unripe tomatoes which are coated with cornmeal and then fried.
A delicious way of using tomatoes that are not yet red and juicy.
Traditionally they use cornmeal or mealie meal. For our recipe, we used a combination of Mealie Meal and Cake Flour.

How to make Fried Green Tomatoes:
Fried Green Tomatoes are delicious with a Greek yogurt and cucumber tzatziki dip on hot summer days. There is no special secret as to which type of tomatoes to use. You can use any tomato. As long as it is still green (not ripe). So if you’ve planted up a patch of tomatoes this year and your crop yield more than you can handle, this is an excellent recipe to keep handy.
