If eating out is a status symbol, then my first pick is The Rock Restaurant. If the price tags are within your budget, this is the restaurant to visit. I recommend a group booking in celebration of a special event!
The Rock Restaurant is a unique experience in the middle of the ocean, specializing in seafood. You are set for an extraordinary experience at this world-famous restaurant. For directions and contact information, click here.
Once you look past the massive drop (I have vertigo, so to me it is massive) you can enjoy a traditional meal with a beautiful view overlooking the Yangtze River. A tip is to book well in advance! (Click here for directions and contact information.) This unique dining experience is tucked into a cave about 12 km north of Yichang.
Speaking about caves, The Grotto restaurant is set in a limestone cave at the Rayavadee resort on Phranang Beach. This is romance galore. Soft sand under your feet, a beautiful view of the ocean, good food, and good company… Need I say more?
The Grotto is known for its tasty seafood barbecue. Alternatively, you can enjoy light snacks and delicious desserts. Make a reservation well in advance.
There is another deliciously different restaurant that comes to mind when I think of romance, and that is in my most favorite Positano! If you love candlelight dinners, THIS restaurant is a must. La Sponda restaurant will make sure you have the ultimate candlelight dinner. Four hundred candles, (yes, four zero zero) are bound to make this romantic evening setting an unforgettable experience.
La Sponda is a Michelin star restaurant well worth putting on your “to do” list.
In some restaurants you have music, singing, and perhaps dancing. But how do you beat a special atmosphere? Sometimes you eat out, not because you’re hungry, but because it is sheer enjoyment.
You can hike for a few hours to reach Aescher or take a cable car to Ebenalp where you will enjoy the same view hermits and herders called their “home” as far back as 1800. The very first hermit was Priest Ulmann back in 1658 who lived in the Wildkirchli.
While you’re at it, you might as well reserve an overnight in the guest house. Dating back to 1860 it is one of the oldest mountain guest houses in Switzerland. Directions and contact information are available here.
From waiters via zip line to elevated views! Enjoy the video preview.
Bird’s Nest Restaurant is located in Soneva Kiri Eco Resort and is one of the main eating-out attractions there.
Dinner in the sky? I am not scared of heights. I am petrified. So just looking at the concept, takes my tummy into complete turmoil. I can safely say I’ve never tried one of these deliciously different restaurants, and here’s why.
If you like fine dining, a fabulous story, and photos to share with family and friends, this is for you. Just don’t get unbuckled. And do NOT lose your camera or mobile phone. You are guaranteed to enjoy spectacular views. Stay seated. Nothing will come between you and the views.
So, when you find yourself in the vicinity of Vancouver, remember to click here for contact information and directions to an evening of Dinner in the Sky.
On our Facebook group, Jo-Anne Naude shared a video of Ithaa undersea restaurant in the Maldives. Another such experience is in the United Emirates with Ossiano Underwater Bar & Restaurant for an unforgettable treat.
Ossiano is a European restaurant with floor-to-ceiling views of a massive aquarium. You’ll find (click here for directions) this sophisticated and acclaimed seafood restaurant on Crescent Road, The Palm Jumeirah Hotel, Dubai.
Do something different. The Napa Valley Wine Train in beautiful California offers a scrumptious four-course meal in a luxury vintage setting. I just love Napa Valley (which is one of the top ten most popular destinations in the USA), and what better way to explore Napa!? Wine tasting, excellent service, and great cuisine: A winning combination.
It is not every day, unless of course, you live around the corner, that you have the opportunity to dine between two oceans, i.e. the Atlantic and the Indian oceans. You’re in for some spectacular views enjoyed by over 4 million customers since its opening about 22 years ago. Two Oceans is a regular feature amongst Cape Town‘s ten best restaurants and deserves our recognition as a deliciously different restaurant.
The Maldives is not only the ultimate break-way but it also hosts the Ithaa undersea restaurant on Rangali Island. No doubt, another unique experience! Click here for directions and contact information.
