It’s A Tasty Cliffhanger

Once you look past the massive drop (I have vertigo, so to me it is massive) you can enjoy a traditional meal with a beautiful view overlooking the Yangtze River. A tip is to book well in advance! (Click here for directions and contact information.) This unique dining experience is tucked into a cave about 12 km north of Yichang.

Make Your Own Kind Of Music

Speaking about caves, The Grotto restaurant is set in a limestone cave at the Rayavadee resort on Phranang Beach. This is romance galore. Soft sand under your feet, a beautiful view of the ocean, good food, and good company… Need I say more?

The Grotto is known for its tasty seafood barbecue. Alternatively, you can enjoy light snacks and delicious desserts. Make a reservation well in advance.

Italy, La Sponda

See Things In A Different Light

There is another deliciously different restaurant that comes to mind when I think of romance, and that is in my most favorite Positano! If you love candlelight dinners, THIS restaurant is a must. La Sponda restaurant will make sure you have the ultimate candlelight dinner. Four hundred candles, (yes, four zero zero) are bound to make this romantic evening setting an unforgettable experience.

La Sponda is a Michelin star restaurant well worth putting on your “to do” list.

Switzerland, Aescher

Eating Out with No Comparison

In some restaurants you have music, singing, and perhaps dancing. But how do you beat a special atmosphere? Sometimes you eat out, not because you’re hungry, but because it is sheer enjoyment.

You can hike for a few hours to reach Aescher or take a cable car to Ebenalp where you will enjoy the same view hermits and herders called their “home” as far back as 1800. The very first hermit was Priest Ulmann back in 1658 who lived in the Wildkirchli.

While you’re at it, you might as well reserve an overnight in the guest house. Dating back to 1860 it is one of the oldest mountain guest houses in Switzerland. Directions and contact information are available here.

Dinner in the sky? I am not scared of heights. I am petrified. So just looking at the concept, takes my tummy into complete turmoil. I can safely say I’ve never tried one of these deliciously different restaurants, and here’s why.

You’re being hoisted by a crane, while strapped into “dining chairs” way up in the air.

If you like fine dining, a fabulous story, and photos to share with family and friends, this is for you. Just don’t get unbuckled. And do NOT lose your camera or mobile phone. You are guaranteed to enjoy spectacular views. Stay seated. Nothing will come between you and the views.
