Being probably the largest city in Somerset England, Bath is also known for its Roman-built baths, and it is well worth a visit.
This very old but beautiful city is located in the valley of the River Avon, and you will find many beautiful photo opportunities. One of which is the A3039 road along the river Avon, with a view of the Pulteney Bridge. This area makes for stunning photos: Definitely an Instagram moment.
We recommend going to the Modern Version and then the Historic Version. It just makes you appreciate it even more.

The Modern Thermae Spa with its Rooftop Pool, natural thermal water, and beautiful views across the city is the perfect start to your trip. Indulge yourself in a day of pampering and relaxation. Explore the Wellness Suite on the 2nd floor, Minerva Bath, and the Ice Room as well, and take your time.
For more information, here is a link to a YouTube Video of the Wellness Suite at Thermae Bath Spa.
The Historic Roman Baths is a famous tourist stop and here you can take audio-assisted self-guided tours of the museum with its many artifacts. Discover the ancient history of the baths and the impressive ruins that are still in great shape with the Great Bath which still flows with thermal water even today. (Visit their site for up-to-date info on opening times, specials, and the latest information.)
Situated in between the Pulteney Bridge and Thermae Bath Spa you will find the impressive Bath Abbey (Late Medieval church with a Victorian Gothic interior by Sir George Gilbert Scott and tower tours.)
Also close to the baths are Sally Lunn’s. Sally Lunn’s Historic Eating House and Museum is a two-in-one visit as you have to enjoy tea while in England. This is Bath’s oldest house (c.1483) and it is the home of the famous Sally Lunn Bun (a semi-sweet bread). In my opinion, this is an excellent stop for a light lunch or breakfast.
We suggest you do a Sightseeing Bus Tour – it is great to learn more about the city, see everything and still relaxing at the same time.
The City Walking Tours are very popular and they are great fun. You get much more information than when you walk alone.
The city of Bath has quite a lot of museums. We have selected a few which we think you might like.
Walking from the Thermal Baths towards the historic circular street called The Circus (approx. a 15 min walk) here are a few museums in the area.
After mentioning the above list of things to do, there is still the Holburne Museum, Herschel Museum of Astronomy, the Chapel of Arts, the Museum of Bath Architecture, the Theatre Royal, The Mission Theatre….oh and so much more.
It all depends on how much time you have. You can easily spend 3 or 4 days in Bath UK (especially if you love museums), but Bath is also an easy one-day visit if you are only interested in the Modern and Historic Baths as mentioned above.
Spring, Summer, or Autumn is great, but we do recommend Autumn, as the city does have beautiful spots with Autumn colored trees. Just an extra bonus.
The Pig – Near Bath Hotel: All the more reason you need to hire a car as this is definitely worth a visit.

Getting around in Bath
Public Transport is good and you can easily discover the city on foot. You actually do not need a car to get to all the key sights and attractions. There are park and ride areas, which enable you to leave your car outside the city and then explore further on foot or maybe by hiring a bicycle.
However, should you wish to see more than only the city centre, we do recommend renting a car. This will give you the chance to also explore the surrounding villages and towns while you’re there, like the beautiful and ever popular Castle Combe.
For example, the famous Neolithic Stonehenge is nearby. (Only an hour from Bath.)
